Edgar Cayce on the Guardian Angel

February 7, 2026 2 Comments 2 Min Read

Edgar Cayce, known as the “sleeping prophet,” spoke often about angels in his readings. He frequently quoted the Bible, referring to heavenly hosts that work quietly in the background to assist humanity, and he also discussed the reality of the guardian angel.

In reading 1646-1, Cayce explained that every human being has a personal angel. He revealed that angels do not appear only in moments of crisis or in response to prayer, but that each person’s angel is continually united with them as a bridge into spiritual life. It is the task of every human being to attune to their angel and to integrate its guidance, so that over time they may be raised to a higher spiritual station. The personal angel stands within the human being as an initiator, healer, protector, and source of inspiration.

“The guardian angel is the companion of each soul as it enters a material experience. It is ever an influence keeping an attunement between the creative energies of the soul-entity and health, life, enlightenment, and immortality. … And as may be experienced in the activities of individuals, it may become so accentuated as to be the greater influence in their experience.”

Like Rudolf Steiner and Manly P. Hall, Cayce also spoke of how deeply the angel is united with the human soul. This union can make the angel feel less like a separate being and more like a spiritual organ or faculty within us. Because of this intimacy, many people, including occultists, have forgotten that they are guided by a personal angel. The angel’s presence feels so much a part of our being that its messages and impulses are often mistaken for our own thoughts. This has led some to interpret angelic guidance as coming from the “higher self.” In reality, humanity has largely forgotten its living connection with the spiritual hierarchies and no longer acknowledges that there is an angel, a distinct spiritual being, united with the human soul.

“Then as the guardian influence or angel is ever before the face of the Father, through same may that influence ever speak – but only by that which is your ideal. …through your angel, through yourself that is the angel – does that self speak with your Ideal.”

I believed in my Guardian Angel when I was little. I was raised Catholic, but over the years lost my connection with my Guardian Angel. Thank you so much for your recent talk about Guardian Angels. I am working on re-connecting and expressing gratitude for my Guardian Angel’s guidance and protection throughout my life. 🙏
